Joel Jerome is a native of Raymond, Maine, a rural area outside of Portland. His experiences of isolation, juxtaposed with a lifelong commitment to adventure, travel, and success in the wider world provide a starting point for his craft. The rebirth of Americana and its themes of beauty, desolation and loneliness in American life are deeply embedded in Joel's music. Chasing, Joel's sophomore album was released in October of 2020. With multi-award winning producer David Brophy at the helm, Chasing takes us into multiple landscapes including the rural heroin epidemic, the sinking of a World War II aircraft carrier and a character managing the ups and downs of the human spirit.
Joel is the recipient of the 2018 Best Acoustic Song Award for My Retreat from Clouzine International Music Awards. In 2020, Joel won Best Americana Composition for Answering the Call, again from Clouzine International.
"Somewhere between folk, country and indie rock, 'Chasing' follows a story of addiction and pain but the song's melody line keeps you committed despite the despair." Gottlieb, Jed.
